Mauritius: A Land Of Sun Kissed Beaches

Mauritius, the tropical mountainous island in the Indian Ocean, is well known for its sparkling water and its contrasting culture. The island is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the world. The white beach in the north of Mauritius where the sea is turquoise blue is what makes Mauritius “The paradise of Indian Ocean”.

MAURITIUS COASTLINE

The sandy white beaches are the perfect place to relax. The coastline is around 330 km long and has large lagoons. The beaches of Mauritius are safe and ideal for swimming, bathing and other water based sports.

The North coast beaches

The most happening beaches are the North coast Beaches. There are plenty of activities that happen on these beaches – waterskiing, fishing, sailing, yachting and surfing. The evenings are amazing with the marvelous sunset. There are also bars and restaurants from where you can enjoy the view. The popular beaches on the northern side are Trou aux Biches, Mont Choisy, La Cuvette, Grand Bay Public Beach, Pereybere.

The East Coast Beaches

The beaches on the East coast side are less developed and are wild in nature. But nature is at it’s best on the East Coast where the water is crystal clear and is bordered by green grassland. The beaches are long and ideal for jogging and walking. The beaches are also perfectly suited for Snorkeling and swimming. The popular beaches on the eastern side are Blue Bay, Belle Mare and the beaches of the Ile aux Cerfs Island.

The South Coast beaches

The south coast is more wild and virgin by nature. It also has sea cliffs and lots of rocks. Hence, the waves that hit on the rocks make the sight more beautiful. But this part of the coast is not suitable for any water sport or swimming as it has strong water currents and is also not a much protected area.

The West Coast Beaches

The west coast has the most beautiful beaches and is famous internationally for the same reason. The sunsets are magnificent to watch from this coast. This coast is also good for surfers as the winds and the waves are in the surfer’s favour. The popular beaches are Flic en Flac, Tamarin and Le Morne.

OTHER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES/TOURS

Mauritius has a variety of activities such as Sightseeing, adventure sport, spa and massage, hiking and other activities, that would entertain you. Few of them are listed below.

Vallee des Couleurs – It is a reserve and a home for flora and fauna.

Mauritius Botanical Garden – There are rare variety of tropical plants found in this botanical garden.

Crocodile and Giant Tortoise Park – This is a nature reserve and is a home for a variety of animals and plants.

Sugar Museum and Factory – Once an old sugar mill, it has been transformed into a museum to unleash the sugar story of Mauritius.

The Curious Corner of Chamarel – There are around 40 delusional fantasies to look out for. They were constructed by a team of professionals to entertain the visitors.

Ile aux Cerfs Treetops Adventure – This offers an opportunity to visit the island on the top of the trees along footbridges, zip lines, nets and other obstacles.
